Sunday 8 July 2012

You won't find my next review here.

Yes, that's right. I've decided to stop doing my weekly reviews here. Fear not though, because I'm not stoping them! Instead, I'm moving over to a much larger Rock Band fan site, RockBandAide.com. Thanks for all the support over here and I hope you'll continue to read me over at RockBandAide!

DLC 7/10: Daughtry

I'll admit, the last couple of weeks have been kind of a wash for me. Hopefully this week will be more my speed, and don't forget, we could be receiving either The B-52's or Daughtry this week!

Daughtry - "It's Not Over"
Daughtry - "No Surprises" - Pro Available
Daughtry - "Crawling Back To You"

Will I like this DLC? Find out Tuesday!

Friday 29 June 2012

DLC 7/3: All-American Rejects, Mudvayne and Rise Against

I'll admit, I wasn't too fond of Carrie Underwood, but will this week's DLC be something a bit more to my speed?

All-American Rejects - "Gonzo"
Mudvayne - "Happy?" - Pro Available
Rise Against - "Satellite"

I'll admit, I'm not familiar with any of these songs, but there seem to be a few people who are excited for Mudvayne, so I guess that's good.

Friday 22 June 2012

DLC 6/26: Carrie Underwood

This week's DLC comes courtesy of the first country artist to ever win American Idol, Carrie Underwood.

Carrie Underwood - "Before He Cheats"
Carrie Underwood - "Cowboy Casanova"
Carrie Underwood - "Good Girl" - Pro Available

Now, as an artist, I'm pretty meh on Carrie Underwood, but will that stop me from liking the DLC?

DLC 6/19: Angels & Airwaves, Owl City and Queens of the Stone Age

The only real hint we got about this week's DLC is that it sounds like WALL•E trying to hit on you but he's having a really bad day. Oh, and it may or may not be one of the announced artists.

Angels & Airwaves – “The Adventure"
Owl City – “Fireflies”
Queens of the Stone Age – “In My Head” - Pro Available

Will I like this DLC?

Tuesday 19 June 2012

Late review this week

This week, I'm going to be busy until roughly 5pm and because I have to be somewhere at 5:30 today, I won't be uploading the review for Angels & Airwaves, Owl City and Queens of the Stone Age until tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience but I'm hoping that it'll be up earlier in the afternoon on Wednesday.

RBN Reviews

Hello there! This is a new feature I thought I'd try out. There have been a few people to ask me on Twitter (and in person) if I was ever going to review Rock Band Network DLC. My original plan was to just not do it but just recently I thought that rather than do all the songs, just pick one or two new songs to review each week. The songs will be chosen either at random, or of it's a song I know/like then that'll be what I choose. Hope you enjoy! Because Tuesday is the only day I'm guaranteed to be with my Xbox that's when the review will be put up. Hope you enjoy this feature!

DLC 6/12: "Drive" by Incubus

So, HMXhenry has said that because of unforeseen circumstances, there will only be one song released this week. Let's hope it's good...

Incubus - "Drive"

Well, licensing is hard. Will I like this sole piece of DLC?

Friday 8 June 2012

Queens of the Stone Age, The B-52's and Daughtry coming to Rock Band soon

This week's *ahem* underwhelming DLC announcement came with a silver lining. We found out that Queens of the Stone Age, The B-52's and Daughtry are going to be coming to Rock Band. No word on what songs though.

Tuesday 5 June 2012

DLC 6/5: Cracker, Florence + The Machine and Midnight Oil

I'll be honest, I can't stand Bullet for My Valentine, so really, it can't get much worse. Can it?

Cracker - "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)" - Pro Available
Florence + the Machine - "Dog Days are Over"
Midnight Oil - "Power and the Passion"

Well, my first instinct is WHERE IS BEDS ARE BURNING?!?!?!? but I've got a feeling we'll be seeing it on Rock Band Blitz. With that said, will I like the DLC?

Tuesday 29 May 2012

DLC 5/29: Bullet for My Valentine

I guess Iron Maiden wasn't enough metal so here's some more.

Bullet for My Valentine - "Tears Don't Fall"
Bullet for My Valentine - "Scream Aim Fire"
Bullet for My Valentine - "Your Betrayal" - Pro Available

Well, I'm not fond of this band or what they've had in RB/GH in the past, but will I like this DLC?

DLC 5/22: Iron Maiden Epics

So, what do we know about this week's DLC? One song is over 12 minutes and it's not a good week for people who like songs under 5 minutes. We also know that HMX forum moderator Der_Lex is excited about it and that a lot of people will be excited for the announcement. With that in mind, let's see what's coming this week!

Iron Maiden - "Phantom of the Opera"
Iron Maiden - "The Prisoner"
Iron Maiden - "Flight of Icarus" - Pro Available
Iron Maiden - "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" - Pro Available
Iron Maiden - "Infinite Dreams"
Iron Maiden - "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son"

Iron Maiden is pretty awesome news if you ask me! Now if only they'd change the albums from Flight 666 on the old DLC...

Thursday 17 May 2012

DLC 5/15: Paramore

Given the fact that Tenacious D's new album comes out this Tuesday, it'd be nice to see some more from them. Let's see what's in store!

Paramore - "Ignorance"
Paramore - "Brick By Boring Brick"
Paramore - "The Only Exception" - Pro Available

Now, I'm not a big Paramore fan but I've enjoyed their songs in the past. Will I like the DLC though?

Tuesday 15 May 2012

Just a quick explanation.

Some of you may have noticed that I didn't update the blog today with a review. For those of you that follow me on Twitter you'd have seen that I wasn't feeling too well today and that I just didn't feel up to writing it today. For those of you who aren't (seriously, why aren't you?!?), that's basically what happened. I'll probably do the review on the weekend because I won't have a chance to do so before then and this is a pack that I'd really like to review because I'd like to see how it holds up against the other Paramore DLC which is really fun!

Cheers!

Tuesday 8 May 2012

DLC 5/8: Rage Against the Machine

This week's DLC comes courtesy of Rage Against the Machine

Rage Against the Machine - "Killing in the Name"
Rage Against the Machine - "Bombtrack" - Pro Available
Rage Against the Machine - "Sleep Now In the Fire"

Finally! I can play Bombtrack and not have to play the abomination that is PowerGig!

Tuesday 1 May 2012

DLC 5/1: Eddie Money, Train and Yellowcard

This week's songs come courtesy of a few different artists. With this variety there should be SOMETHING good, right?

Eddie Money - "Two Tickets to Paradise" - Pro Available
Train - "Drops of Jupiter" - Pro Available
Yellowcard - "Only One"

After taking a one week break, we're back! Will we like the DLC? Find out Tuesday!

Tuesday 24 April 2012

More Snoop Dogg DLC soon? (UPDATE)

So it looks like someone at Harmonix accidentally put up a "Snoop Dogg Test Pack" in the marketplace. Could this be an indication that a Snoop Dogg pack is coming soon? It also seems that, through some URL hacking, people found the song Gangsta Luv so that seems to add further credibility to this rumour.

UPDATE: HMXhenry has said on RockBandAide that there is no additional Snoop Dogg coming to Rock Band any time soon. Oh well. As RBA pointed out though, the song Gangsta Luv may very well end up on the Rock Band Blitz list!

UPDATE 2: HMXhenry commented on RockBandAide again to say that Gangsta Luv isn't coming to Rock Band Blitz either. Oh well.

Thanks @jamesshaw33 for finding this and RockBandAide for running the story so that I could steal it here!

Friday 20 April 2012

DLC 4/24: Cinderella

This week's DLC is a 3-pack of 80s hair rockers Cinderella. The songs are:

Cinderella - "Nobody's Fool"
Cinderella - "Don't Know What You've Got (Till It's Gone)" - Pro Available
Cinderella - "Shelter Me"

Unfortunately, as I've mentioned before, I can't review this DLC due to my being out of the country. See you in May!

Thursday 19 April 2012

No review on April 24th.

As I had mentioned at the end of my P!nk review, I won't be able to do a review for the DLC on April 24. I'm in England for a family function and, as such won't be near my Xbox. Sorry about this. I will still be updating the blog tomorrow with the new DLC announcement but I just won't be able to review it. There WILL be a review on May 1st though.

Until then, cheers!

Tuesday 17 April 2012

DLC 4/17: P!nk

So HMXHenry said that there will be two female fronted bands coming as DLC in the near future. We've already received Evanescence. Will this week bring the second one?

P!nk - "Get the Party Started" - Pro Available
P!nk - "Sober"
P!nk - "Please Don't Leave Me"
P!nk - "Funhouse"

This is our first release in a while (and only third this year) to have more than 3 songs. Hopefully the weeks will start to get bigger over the next few releases. Just remember, we still haven't had an album yet! Will we like this DLC? Find out Tuesday!

Tuesday 10 April 2012

DLC 4/10: Slayer

Watching the Harmonix livestream today, they announced the DLC early and we find out it's Slayer! Great music for Easter!

Slayer - "Raining Blood" - Pro Available
Slayer - "South of Heaven"
Slayer - "Seasons In The Abyss"

So did we like this DLC?

Tuesday 3 April 2012

DLC 4/3: Evanescence

More Evanescence songs come to Rock Band this week as part of Evanescence Pack 02.

Evanescence – “Everybody’s Fool” - Pro Available
Evanescence – “Lithium”
Evanescence – “What You Want”

I'll admit. Outside of Bring Me to Life, I'm not too familiar with Evanescence, but will that stop me from liking the DLC?

Sunday 1 April 2012

Tuesday 27 March 2012
